AIA Continuing Education for Quarry Tile & Thin Brick

Ironrock is an AIA Continuing Education Provider. Metropolitan Ceramics currently has four AIA Continuing Education courses available. These courses are live and can be given either in person or via webinar. Two of the courses are related to flooring. Choosing the Right Flooring for Demanding Environments is a 1 LU (learning unit) course. Commercial Kitchen Flooring Essentials for Optimizing Employee Health and Safety is a Health Safety and Welfare (HSW) course worth a 1LUHSW credit.

There are also two thin brick continuing education courses provided by Ironrock. Advantages of Using Thin Brick Veneer, a 1LU course, and The Health, Safety and Welfare Benefits of Thin Brick and Thin Brick Wall Systems, a 1LU HSW credit course.

Contact us about presenting these courses to your group. We would be happy to share them with you either in person or via webinar.

Choosing the Right Flooring for Demanding Environments (1 LU)

This AIA 1LU course will discuss the importance of using the appropriate floor covering products for demanding floor environments like commercial kitchens. The course will give participants important insight into understanding what constitutes a demanding environment, examining the flooring options available and determining their suitability for use in these environments. Through comparison, discussing manufacturing processes, learning about raw materials and viewing installation examples, attendees will be better able choose the correct flooring for demanding environments.

AIA Course #J88132020

Learn how to determine the most appropriate flooring choice for demanding environments. Includes a comparison of the most viable options, a discussion on the importance of using the appropriate floor covering products, learning about raw materials and viewing installation examples.

Commercial Kitchen Flooring Essentials for Optimizing Employee Health and Safety (1LU-HSW)

This AIA 1LU-HSW course will look at the relationship between floor covering for commercial kitchens and the health, safety and welfare concerns for those who stand and walk on them on a daily basis. It will discuss the types of problems that can arise from not having the right floor covering including, trip hazards, slip resistance issues, and air quality concerns.

Through discussion of products standards and testing, reviewing product options, and looking at the requirements of the work environment, attendees will be better able to understand the hazards a commercial kitchen environment can present. They will also learn how the choice of flooring can either improve or diminish the safety of the area.

Knowing this will help them make more informed judgments when choosing the right flooring for commercial kitchens.

The Health, Safety and Welfare Benefits of Thin Brick and Thin Brick Wall Systems (1 LU - HSW)

This AIA 1LU HSW course will discuss the advantages of using a thin brick-clad wall system to achieve an authentic kiln-fired brick finish with less impact on the environment and more benefits.

The course will compare thin brick veneer exterior wall systems with a full brick cavity wall, demonstrating the advantages of a thin brick wall when considering health, safety and welfare, including environmental impact and occupants' comfort and well being. The course will also review the different types of thin brick and thin brick wall systems and compare them.

Students will better understand the effects full-face brick and thin brick have on the environment through an in-depth comparison. The analysis will include a discussion on raw materials, manufacturing, transport and installation for both brick finishes.

Understanding the H.S.W. impact wall system options and brick selection has will help participants make informed decisions through the preliminary design and project development stages of construction.

AIA Course #J88142021

When a brick finish is desired, learn how a thin brick wall improves the building’s environmental impact and contributes to the health and safety of the building occupants and those affected by the building.
